Fostering MINDFULNESS through

DANCE, YOGA and PLAY

Mind Moves was created in response to the growing global children's mental health crisis. We tackle children's mental health through mindful movement and play.
 
Our programs teach children confidence, patience, resilience, focus and physical & emotional literacy.
 

Join us in Vancouver community Centres, pre-school and elementary schools or in your neighbourhood park.

Community Centre Classes

We offer 6 classes

Family Fun (All Ages)

1 hour

 

Open to families of all ages and abilities  These classes always include breathing techniques, poses, games, mindfulness practice, and songs. You can expect partner and group activities and lots of fun! These are designed for all abilities with plenty of modifications as needed.

Benefits: Bonding with family members

Baby Butterflies (1-3 yrs with Parent/Guardian)

30 minutes

 

Open to toddlers and their caregivers. Introduce your little one to the magic of moving! Toddlers learn to express themselves through imagination, music, stories, poems and props used in developing foundational dance skills. Join your child for a fun and energizing experience to bond through music and movement.

Benefits: Support your growing toddler's gross motor and socio-emotional development 

Friendly Frogs (4-5 yrs)

45 min

 Open to our newly independent movers! A Creative Movement class where children learn to express themselves through imagination, music, stories, poems and props used in developing foundational dance skills. This class includes elements of Mindfulness and Yoga where students will learn poses and techniques to promote relaxation, body awareness, emotional regulation, creativity, confidence and listening skills. Come play yoga with us! 

Benefits: Skills in basic yoga poses & dance steps, self-awareness, emotional expression and self-regulation tools

Little Lions (6-8 yrs)

45 mins

Open to school children!  A Creative Movement class where children learn to express themselves through imagination, music, stories, poems and props used in developing foundational dance skills. This class includes elements of Mindfulness and Yoga where students will learn poses and techniques to promote relaxation, body awareness, emotional regulation, creativity, confidence and listening skills. Come play yoga with us! 

Benefits: Skills in yoga poses & dance steps, self-awareness, emotional expression and self-regulation tools

Mindful Monkeys (9-12 yrs)

1 hr

 Open to our senior elementary kids! This class focuses on children's connection to themselves and others through a curious and playful lens. Students get more say and room for reflection on what kind of poses they want to learn and how they are interacting in class.  Students learn fun and challenging poses, partner and group poses, breathing and basic anatomy, which contributes to self-respect and respect for others.  Dance & games are always included, as well as an opportunity to wind down with relaxation at the end of class. 

Benefits: Body awareness, strength, balance & mobility, increased concentration, mental resilience, tools on how to self-regulate and connect with others and yourself

Tween Trees (11-14 yrs)

1 hr

Open to our middle-schoolers! This class provides a non-competitive environment for teens and preteens to explore more complex yoga poses as well breathing exercises, movement games, mindfulness activities, and much-needed relaxation techniques. Students learn techniques for concentrating, reducing stress, and connecting to their bodies in a loving way, while still being playful and fun. Classes often revolve around a philosophical theme and may include discussion, journaling, or mindful art.

Benefits: Body awareness, strength, balance & mobility, increased concentration, mental resilience, tools on how to self-regulate and connect with others and yourself

MIND MOVES IN SCHOOLS
